Question: 2000 LHS 97,000 miles possible fuel filter/pump issues.
Hi. I have a 2000 Chrysler LHS that I bought new. It's been a wonderful car. I have 97,000 miles and recently went on a 7 hour road trip. About half way there I started losing acceleration and couldnt keep the rpms up. I had to pull off the freeway and once I came to a stop the car died. I tried to start it but it would only turn over. I waited a few minutes and tried it again and it fired. I drove another 30 miles or so and it started happinging again. I had a little over a half a tank of gas. After about 5 more times and a quarter tank more I refueled and the car ran fine for the last leg of 100 miles. It felt like the fuel filter was dirty. It is the original. I guess my question is since the fuel filter is located on the pump in the tank and due to the work involved I should just replace both? The other thing is the car is lowerd and I recently scraped the undercarriage pretty good on a speed bump. Could a kinked line or something to that effect cause this problem?
